What is Dialysis?

Dialysis is a treatment for people whose kidneys are failing. When you have kidney failure, your kidneys don’t filter blood the way they should. As a result, wastes and toxins build up in your bloodstream.

Dialysis does the work of your kidneys, removing waste products and excess fluid from the blood.

Hemodiafiltration

What is Hemodiafiltration?
Hemodiafiltration (HDF) is a form of kidney replacement therapy (KRT) that utilizes convective in combination with diffusive clearance. Compared with conventional hemodialysis, HDF removes more middle-molecular-weight solutes.

Hemodialysis

How is Hemodialysis performed?
Hemodialysis uses a special filter called a dialyzer, which acts as an artificial kidney, along with a dialysis machine to clean the blood. To allow blood to flow into the dialyzer, a minor surgical procedure is performed, usually in the arm, to create access to a blood vessel.

Our Pre-Dialysis Arrangements

Prior to the treatment, we make careful preparations to ensure the perfect environment and setting for the dialysis session. Preparations for the treatment include:

  • When you arrive for your scheduled session, there may be a brief wait while your dialysis station is prepared
  • Our nursing staff will then take your weight, check your blood pressure and pulse
  • Our in-house physicians will assess your general health and fitness for the dialysis
  • Our experienced technicians will ensure your hands and fistula, or graft are thoroughly cleaned before starting the treatment
